Welcome to the Lodge at Wood Duck Crossing directly on Florida's awe-inspiring Rainbow River.

Nestled in a two-acre grove of pines, cypress and majestic oaks, this recently remodeled and redecorated four-bedroom, two-bath lodge sits on a gently-sloping knoll overlooking the pristine, spring-fed waters of the Rainbow River, a hidden treasure designated as a Florida Outstanding Waterway and Aquatic Preserve. The original owner selected this property over 40 years ago as among the most picturesque on the Rainbow, offering a sweeping view of the riverfront. Little has changed today.

Acquired by Jack and Susie in 2010, the lodge underwent an extensive transformation in 2011 with continuing upgrades each season since then. Both baths were completely replaced, and the spacious kitchen was redesigned and updated with new appliances. You'll find a large breakfast bar with seating for four, a walk-in pantry, and just about any accessory you'll need to exercise your culinary skills.

The great room and dining area feature a vaulted ceiling, new laminate flooring, carpets and furnishings. Both connect through sliding glass doors to a spacious wrap-around outside deck area offering sweeping views of the gently-rolling property down to the riverfront. After sunset, you you'll be entertained by 140 channels of DirecTV on a 37” flat screen TV, with an integrated 100-watt stereo system with iPod/iTouch connectivity, plus a DVD/CD player.

The ground floor includes the master suite with an adjoining full bath. Just outside the back door you’ll find a roomy two-car carport flanked by the utility room housing many of your water toys, plus a full-sized Samsung washer & dryer. And just around the corner: your own private, outdoor garden rain-shower.

Head upstairs to find three additional bedrooms – each with expansive river views -- plus another full-size bath with a large cultured marble shower. All the bedrooms offer brand-new, top-of-line Stearns & Foster bedding sets; three rooms feature queens, the other a twin bed with a separate trundle twin.

Be as adventuresome as you like...

Love wilderness and water? Then welcome to paradise. Enjoy kayaking, tubing, paddle-boarding, birding, swimming, hiking, snorkeling, diving and exploring … all in your own backyard with all of your gear included! The quaint Dunnellon area also offers amazing fishing opportunities, dozens of world-class golf courses within minutes, several of Florida’s most renowned state parks, and much, much more.

Wildlife abounds -- especially of the non-human variety. At Wood Duck Crossing you’ll not only discover our beloved namesake, but likely a playful family of otters who call the other side of our river home. Turtles, foxes, largemouth bass, and whitetail deer are easily discovered. And then there’s Dixie, our neighbor’s gentle, loveable black Lab. Dixie’s never met anyone she didn’t love.

Or do nothing at all...

Close to everything yet far from the madding crowd, Wood Duck Crossing is the perfect place for respite and retreat. Relax on the oversized deck – or perhaps stretch out and sway in our riverside hammock -- as you watch and listen to the Rainbow River flow gently by. Later settle in to an Adirondack next to a crackling fire in the dockside fire-pit just around sunset. Whether you’re an artist, painter, writer, or just a dreamer, the natural beauty of the surroundings is sure to inspire.
